Karun Agro

Karun Agro Industries Inc. is a long-established Iranian sugarcane agro-industrial company founded in 1973, with its first industrial production run beginning in 1978. Its main agricultural and industrial complex is located in the Dimcheh area of Shushtar, Khuzestan Province, integrating sugarcane cultivation, harvesting and industrial sugar processing within a single operating structure.

Sugarcane forms the core of Karun's agricultural operations. Its industrial activities centre on the production of white and golden sugar, while molasses and bagasse represent important co-products of the processing chain. Extensive agricultural land, irrigation and drainage infrastructure, and large-scale processing facilities connect raw-material production directly with industrial processing.

Karun's strategic importance extends beyond sugar output alone. Molasses and particularly bagasse can serve as feedstocks for a range of downstream industries, creating opportunities to capture greater value from the sugarcane biomass stream. This positions an integrated sugarcane complex not simply as a sugar producer, but as a potential platform for food, feed, biomaterials, paper and energy value chains.
