About Shilton
SHILTON is an Iranian canned-food, sauce and condiment brand manufactured by Iran Protein Company. The company was incorporated in 1990, while SHILTON products were commercially introduced under the brand name in 1995. The original SHILTON trademark application dates to 1995 and its first verified registration, No. 78051, was completed in 1996.
Canned tuna has historically been SHILTON's core and most recognizable product category. The portfolio has since expanded into canned chicken, legumes and vegetables, tomato paste, pickles and a broad range of hot and cold sauces. The current official portfolio also includes packaged sugar and cube sugar products.
SHILTON products are manufactured at Iran Protein Company's production site in the Kordan–Savojbolagh area of Alborz Province. The company states that HACCP and ISO 22000:2018 systems are implemented within its quality-management framework and also reports EC Code and IR Code credentials associated with its canned-tuna operations.
In recent years, SHILTON has extended its portfolio more visibly into sauces and condiments, ranging from mayonnaise and ketchup to mustard, garlic, French, Thousand Island, barbecue, balsamic and Thai chili sauces, including larger foodservice formats.
From Foodex Iran's perspective, SHILTON's strategic challenge lies in extending a brand with strong historical equity in canned tuna into a broader food portfolio. Expansion into sauces, tomato paste, pickles and adjacent categories can increase the brand's addressable market, but it also increases the importance of maintaining a clear meaning for the SHILTON name. Building a coherent territory around convenient meal solutions and complementary pantry products may allow the brand to broaden its portfolio without losing the category authority developed through tuna.
